Start a Family Child Care Home

Operate your own business by caring for children in your home.  The CCR&R can help you get started.

Grants

Funded by the Illinois Department of Human Services, professional development and grants are awarded to child care providers for attendance at conferences, CPR and First Aid training and on-site training for centers. Scholarships are also provided to providers who are currently working towards their Early Childhood degree, accreditation and individual credentialing programs.

Training

The YWCA CCR&R offers monthly trainings/workshops to early childhood professionals through funding from the Illinois Department of Human Services. These trainings are specifically geared to meet the needs and interest of experienced early childhood professionals as well as those who are just starting in their career.  Training topics address eight areas of child care and development.  The eight categories are: health & safety, physical & intellectual, social & emotional, provider / family relations, child care program operation, professionalism, behavioral observation & record keeping, and principles of child growth & development. Training participants are awarded in-service credit hours required by DCFS licensing regulations.

Resource Lending Library

Known as the Quality Counts Lending Library, the YWCA CCR&R’s resource lending library is unique in that our staff are available to deliver educational materials to child care providers ‘door step.’  Through grant funding from the Future for Kids Initiative, a program developed by Mrs. Lura Ryan, First Lady of Illinois, the YWCA CCR&R received funding and a van to develop a traveling resource library equipped with educational kits that are designed to enhance the program curriculum.  The Quality Counts Lending Library also has self-study units and a vast array of early childhood books and videos for caregivers.  For more information contact (630) 790-3030 ext. 449 or training@ywcachicago.org.
